Selection by Kiera Cass

Have you ever watched The Bachelor?  If you have, you will love the Selection.  Kiera Cass, the author, has taken The Bachelor and put it into a book.  America has a chance of a lifetime.  She can enter the Selection where 35 girls will meet Prince Maxon and get out of poverty. Only one girl can become Prince Maxon’s wife. But America doesn’t even want to be in the selection because of her secret love for Aspen. If you always wanted to be a princess or love The Bachelor, you will love this book.America Singer life sucks. Her family is in poverty and they are in caste 5(8 is the worst and 1 is the best).  But one day she gets a letter in the mail saying that she can enter the selection, where 35 girls will fall in love with Prince Maxon. But Prince Maxon can only choose one princess. American does not want to enter the Selection, but her mom keeps nagging at her to enter to help out the family. “I didn’t want to be royalty. And I didn’t want to be a one. I didn’t even want to try.” The Selection for American has turned into a nightmare.  America also has a secret love for Aspen. Aspen is in caste 6. The only problem is that caste 5 and 6 can’t be in love with each other. American does not want to enter because she loves Aspen. Aspen doesn’t want to stop America from helping out her family, so he makes her fill out an application. Turns out America gets into the Selection. America meets some new friends along the way. But does American start having felling for Prince Maxon because she is away for Aspen? Does Maxon 
start to fall in love with America? Will America be Prince Maxon’s wife?
I felt the charters are realistic, they help explain the story. Kiera Cass did a fabulous job of bring 
the charters to life. You can just picture yourself as one of the charters.  The charters go along 
with the setting. Kiera Cass did an excellent job with the setting. “I let myself feel the warm air 
on my skin, the grass beneath my toes. Somehow even things in nature seemed to bred into 
something extravagant here.” Kiera Cass is a brilliant writer.
This book is outstanding! If you love The Bachelor, romance and drama, you should read The
Selection.  If you were America would you would put your name in.
