Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days by Jeff Kinney

I read the book Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Dog Days by Jeff Kinney. I think it was a good book because it was funny and it was the kind of book a lot of kids would enjoy, like I did. It was written in a comic book style, which I enjoy. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars because it was entertaining and funny but also kept my attention as it was easy to read.  The book was about a boy named Greg Heffley who would be inside playing video games on nice summer days.  So, his parents made him go to the Country Club with his friend Rowley. He didn’t know that when you order smoothies at the Country Club, you would have to pay for them.  So, one day Rowley’s Dad came to Greg’s door with a bill for $83 that he and Rowley had to pay off. They decided to come up with a lawn service, but that didn’t work out so well, so they never really paid it off.  After that Greg’s Grandpa told Greg’s Dad that he really ran over his dog when he was little and that his dog didn’t really run off to a chicken farm.  Greg’s Grandpa thought his Dad was finally old enough to hear the truth.  So, after hearing that, Greg’s Dad left and came home with a brand new dog. The dog practically ruined Greg’s summer by taking up space on his bed every single day and barking early in the morning (every morning).  Rowley’s parents invited Greg to go on their family trip.  Greg was only excited to go to the beach with Rowley’s family so he could ride the Cranium Shaker.  Greg went on the trip and broke all of the Jefferson’s rules that they gave him, so Greg’s Dad had to drive all the way there to take him home.  In the end, his summer turned out pretty good because Greg and his Dad had a lot of bonding experiences, especially when it came to the bad comic.

Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

I really liked this book. It was very sad but very interesting in my opinion. In a rate of 1-5 I would give this book a 5 because it was absolutely one of the best books that I have read. The book Shiloh is from Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. The book Shiloh is about a beagle that runs away, wandering around the streets not knowing what to do after being abused. On the road, he meets a boy named Marty Preston and follows him home without Marty knowing. The boy immediately becomes friends with the dog and names him Shiloh. His harsh dad won't let him keep the dog because it belongs to Judd Travers, a horrible local hunter that treats animals terribly. So Marty had to return Shiloh back to Judd.  After Marty returns him to his owner, Shiloh gets mistreated again and he runs away and returns to Marty. Knowing his dad will make him bring Shiloh back to Judd again, he makes a home for the dog in an old shed up the hill from his house and hides Shiloh from his family. His secret is soon discovered when the neighbor’s German shepherd attacks the dog one night and must ask his dad for help. Will Marty’s secret be discovered? Will Shiloh die after being attacked? Read the book to find out!

Skeleton Creek Ryan's Journal by Patrick Carman

5 out of 5 stars is what I would give my book. My book is skeleton creek Ryan’s journal. It is about a boy named Ryan and a girl named Sara they are best friends. Ryan and Sara have are obsessed with going to see the dredge number 43 dredge a machine that digs up gold and separates it from the ground. It has giant gears the size of a car tire. A guy named old Joe Bush worked on the dredge.  Sara and Ryan found out that old Joe Bush got sucked into the gears. They end up sticking their noses were they don’t belong. After a couple more visits Ryan was next to a puddle and he fell into the puddle but it was no ordinary puddle. The puddle he fell into was the one that old Joe Bushes body fell into. Ryan broke his leg in the process. This made the kids parents mad and made it where they could not see each other again. But that did not stop Sara she kept going to the dredge and finds some creepy things. Ryan and Sara still broke the rules and snuck out and kept seeing each other. So if you want to find out what happens at the end read Skeleton Creek Ryan’s journal. This book is a series with four books.
